Meeting 2869 was hosted by Adelaide University in their first Public Lecture: The Changing Brain: Moving After Stroke presented by Associate Professor in Neuroscience and Rehabilitation, Brenton Hordacre. It was an interesting discussion on how amazing the human brain is. Current research is focusing on continued work with patients after the traditional window for rehab has closed. They are now achieving promising results with additional recovery demonstrating the elasticity and capabilities of our brains.
Until next time...

Cross Boarder Presidents Meeting
President Neil joined presidents from across the cross-boarder community. It is always a great networking event where clubs can collaborate on upcoming events and hear past achievements.
One of the biggest announcements was that the Rotary Club of Millicent has made the hard decision to wind up from June 2026. They have offered their Chip Van for sale, and are seeking offers of $15,000.
Work for the Census
The Australian Bureau of Statistics is recruiting more than 30,000 people to support the 2026 Census. Field roles are available across Australia, with positions ranging from a few weeks to up to six months.
Positions offer flexible hours that can be arranged to suit your schedule. A national police check may be required as part of the application process.
As part of International Women's Day, The Rotary Foundation has highlighted some of the global projects specifically working to enhance Women lives.
Education programs in Central America, Papua New Guinea, and Australia help midwives develop skills that contribute to better maternal outcomes. In Sierra Leone, nurses, midwives, and other health workers have learned neonatal resuscitation to save infants struggling to breathe after birth.
Microloans for women in Ecuador and Uganda to start or expand businesses empower them with sustainable ways to earn a living. These projects help women support their families and also grow local economies.
Menstrual hygiene education projects, distributing menstrual hygiene products, and building toilet facilities can prevent girls from missing or leaving school and women from missing work. Clubs and districts in places such as India have sponsored projects that enable girls and women to continue with their daily activities during their menstrual periods.
Projects in Australia, New Zealand, and the southwest Pacific raise awareness about domestic violence and provide support to people who have experienced it. Districts and clubs have organized community marches and supported shelters and other organizations.
Donate today to support more projects like these that change women’s lives.
Lunchtime Curator Tour - National Photographic Portrait
Join Assistant Curator, Saskia Scott, in a guided tour during your lunchbreak as she talks about the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2025.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize supports and celebrates photographic portraiture in Australia. Each year the prize attracts thousands of entrants from emerging and established artistic talent across the country. Featuring famous faces and everyday Australians, the prize celebrates the vitality and diversity of photographic portraiture in Australia.
This is your chance to get involved and create a lasting impact in the South Pacific. Rotary Community Leaders (RCLs) are a key leadership role to deliver growth in our part of the world.
RCLs work with Club leadership and to facilitate growth plans that best suit their Rotary Community Group. RCLs act as facilitators, connectors, and mentors. They do not replace District Governors or district officers, nor do they assume operational responsibility for clubs. RCLs support clubs by guiding them to the appropriate resources and helping them collaborate effectively.
The RCLs have a specific learning and development curriculum. Successful candidates will take part in a learning and development program that equips them for the role, ready for commencement on 1 July 2026. The role offers ongoing training and mentoring resources and opportunities.
If you have been waiting for an opportunity to make a difference and collaborate with Rotarians across your broader community – this is your moment.
