Hi Team,

Thanks everyone for attending meeting 2850 at Macs Hotel. Unfortunately, our guest speaker, Mr Chris White from City of Mount Gambier had a last-minute schedule clash and was unable to attend. We did however make the most of the opportunity for fellowship.

David advised he has submitted the application for the Christmas float and that the City of Mount Gambier have decided not to undertake an inspection of the vehicle before the parade. I have confirmed Mount Gambier Bus Lines mechanic services can do a full inspection after the parade. This will provide an opportunity to schedule any required maintenance in preparation for the 2026 parade.

The Mil-Lel show, despite the delayed start, saw the sale of 47 pans for a net profit of $660 for the day. Neville thanked the catering team for their effort and flexibility on the day.

Saint Martin's Lutheran College has accepted our offer of a $500 Music Scholarship. Thank you Michael for making the arrangements.

Until next time.
Pizza Van Update
The van space is booked for the Mount Gambier show and tickets have been sent to Neville. We will find out from Natasha at Paradise Pizza to confirm if we can run or not.

To run the van at the Mount Gambier show we will require the gas cooker repaired.

It was also noted:
  • The electric cooker is also out of action presently, with a presumed thermostat issue.
  • Broken hinge on the roof signage.
  • Rotary signage to be reinstalled.

Next Week

Meeting 2851 will be held at Uni SA for their lecture on Blue Field Planning. 6pm for a 6:30 start.

Professor Damian Madigan will present his new blue field housing model and discuss the often-contentious issue of how to increase housing supply and diversity while retaining the low-rise housing and landscape character that we love in our suburbs. Along the way, he’ll demonstrate that density increases, and the retention of neighbourhood character can co-exist in an increasingly complex housing crisis

The Achieve Project, UNISA

ACHIEVE Project:

The lecture will introduce the ACHIEVE Project, a community approach focused on creating safe, inclusive spaces for education around deeply human conversations.

These conversations focus on challenging topics including cancer, dementia, fertility, grief, loss, and end-of-life care. By engaging with lived experiences, current student and professional insights, the project aims to better equip future healthcare professionals to navigate these complex topics with empathy, compassion, and holistic, person-centred care.

Judith's Oceans to Outback RFDS Fundraiser

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

92 KM and counting!
