Club Business
22nd July: Eat Up Sandwich Making - Amanda attended. A total of 289 sandwiches were made and will be delivered to schools in the district.
22nd July: Share the Dignity - Lyn attended a Zoom meeting where the upcoming event was discussed.
23 July: Colac Leaders of Volunteers Network - Sue attended. Expo to be held, expression of interest to be sent in the near future.
27th July: Bunnings BBQ. Roster is now full. Thank you to members and family who have volunteered to help on that date.
Say No to Family & Domestic Violence - Lyn has given Colac Otway Shire Works Manager 20 posters to be attached to the back of the public toilet doors in our area.

Don't forget to bring your bottle tops and medication sleeves to our meetings for recycling.
Another great round of Football over the past week. Surprise winners were Adelaide defeating Essendon by 2 pts, and Brisbane snatched a 2pt win over Sydney. Big winners were The Hawks def the Pies and the Western Bulldogs easy winners over Geelong.
This week 12 tipsters picked 5 winners & 15 picked 6 winners. Well done to Liz Scarrott, Meaghan Kraus, Harvey Mason, Maurie, Paddy Scarrott, Peter Liepens, Matt Taylor. Brandan Pinter, Shaun Carson, Pam Winn and Ian Gullan who all picked 7 winners. However 7 wasn’t good enough. Awesome work by John Scarrott and Arthur Hughes who both picked 8.

Share the Dignity
Throughout August our biannual Dignity Drive is collecting period products and incontinence aids in the pink boxes near the entrance of our local Woolworths and Blooms the Chemist Colac.
Our Members will collect the period products and they will be distributed at the end of the month to local charities and organisations supporting our most vulnerable community members.
We are thrilled to invite you to a special screening of the film "Just a Farmer," to celebrate Landcare Week. Join us on August 7th at 7:15 pm at the Colac Performing Arts and Cultural Centre.
This powerful film authentically portrays the challenges and triumphs of a resilient farmer in rural Australia, shedding light on mental ill-health and dismantling stigmas. The filmmaker will be present on the night, the Bulla choc-tops have been ordered, and tickets are free!

This screening is only made possible thanks to the collaboration between LET’S TALK Colac, Corangamite CMA, Landcare, Victorian State Government and Dairy Farmers Australia. We are also seeking another business to collaborate on this impactful project. If interested, please let Amanda know.
This week our guest speaker was Rosie Longmore from Rural Australians for Refugees (RAR).
RAR is a Colac Community Group, raising awareness, support and funds for refugees coming to Australia. There are over 70 local groups around Australia, volunteers who do what they can to raise awareness, raise money to fund relief and advocate to government about refugee and asylum seeker policy.
The Colac group came into being in 2022. They help facilitate the settlement of refugees who choose to make Rural Australia their home. In Colac we have a small population mainly from Sudan, South Sudan and Afghanistan who have at one tie been refugees.
Towards the end of 2022 our group heard about a new government program call CRISP (Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot). The CRISP program provides refugees with a dedicated and trained group of volunteers who help navigate the mysteries of a new country, with the hoped outcome that settlement will be less problematic and integration less painful.
Recently Colac RAR have welcomed single mum, Siga Irunga (who grew up in Burundi, the poorest country in the world) and her six children who were living in a Kenyan refugee camp which they had called home for almost 10 years. All the children have commenced school, from kindergarten through to primary school and secondary school and VCE studies. The next focus is developing Sifa's English language. Sifa attends English classes at Community Hub.
RAR espouses values: fairness, inclusiveness, welcome and sharing. RAR groups are essentially autonomous, with each locality deciding what projects and areas to focus on.
For apologies and guests, Amanda is required to email Colac Central Hotel by 1pm Sunday with the number of meals required for the Tuesday meeting.
There is then a follow-up email 12pm Tuesday, if the number has changed. Please keep this in mind if you are going to be apology or plan on bringing a guest. If bringing a guest, let Amanda know if they have any dietary requirements.
Also, if you are rostered on to perform a role during the meeting please find a replacement prior to lodging your apology.
