District Governor Lesley Sheddon did the honours of inducting our new member into our club.
Members provided an overview of our projects and activities to Lesley.
Lyn Crook spoke about Say No to Family & Domestic Violence - More posters being prepared to be delivered, Share the Dignity & It's in the Bag - has been a project now for about 6 years, The Rotary Clock - has been updated after power outages.
Fiona Okeson gave a brief rundown on the Melbourne Cup Function. Funds will be raised for Colac Area Health Foundation.
John Scarrott spoke about our Calendar project which has been running for about 30 years.
Jill Rodger gave an overview of Books for Beginners and the 3 books that we have this year for reading to Grade Prep Students at the local schools.
Peter Liepins spoke about our Sponsorship of Tarsisius from the School of St Jude in Tanzania.
Maurie Oates spoke about the Youth Programs and what we have done and what is coming up.
Lesley is focusing on the project RAM (Rotarians Against Malaria) which is the District Governor Partner Project 2024-2025.
Malaria has killed and debilitated humans forever. Though there have been huge reductions in the incidence of both disease and death in this century, malaria still causes over 400,000 fatalities every year – many of them among small children. Lesley’s husband Rob has chosen to support RAM as his partner project this year. As part of this, Rob has hand crafted a traditional rocking horse which will be the first prize in a raffle to be drawn as the District Conference in March 2025
