Geoff welcomed our 15 members and guest speaker, Chris Meade to the meeting.
Chris Meade has a vision for the Colac Information Center and intends to make it a reality. He has a passion for Colac and it's history and is driven to share our great city and surrounds with travelers who visit our area. He has been told that Colac 'punches above it's weight' by other outside forces. When you look up the meaning of 'punches above it's weight' you see that indeed Colac does fit this criteria
performing or achieving results better than expected and beyond one's ability, skill, experience/
Chris believes this is due to the community spirit, being resourceful and willingness to get the job done.
His vision for the center includes, a cafe, an area to showcase what Colac and District, including the Otways, has to offer, a place where local arts, produce and products are sold and showcased. The shop will enable Colac's, vast array of sensational products to be available to the wider community. This will include, but not be limited to, the meat, wine, dairy, timber and arts industries and incorporate our first nations heritage.
Town signage, a revamp of the building, outside artwork and car parking, are just some of the things on the unearthed groups agenda. Volunteers will be needed to run the center and more information on how to join up will be coming soon.
Thanks Chris for your inspiring talk.
