BBQ at Colac Rifle Club

Mike Evans, a long time member of the Rifle club, gave an interesting talk and tour of their clubs history.
The Colac Rifle Club is 148 years old and has 50 members.
As the Rifle club area is no longer available for the clubs use, their last shoot was on  1st March 2025.  This was the also the final lowering of the Australian Flag, at this range.
The members have not been able to find another place in Colac to shoot, so they travel to the Port Campbell's shooting
range.
Mike explained the difference classes of shooting.
Target Rifle shooting and F Class where the telescopic sight is used. There is medium and long range (600 yards and
1000 yards) which is in line with National Rifle Association of Australia.
After a delicious BBQ dinner, Mike took us into the Museum that was full of memorabilia dating back many years. Records were originally hand written in books during the early days, now they are recorded on computers.
Mike is hoping they can stay in the same club house building, until they are able to celebrate the clubs 150 year anniversary, as this is where all the history is stored at the moment.
It was an interesting and enjoyable evening and we thank Mike and the Rifle club members for their hospitality.

Say No to Domestic Violence
The Rotary Club of Colac West are looking for more ways to connect to our community to support this important initiative.

Our goal is to have this poster in every public rest room, sports club, restaurant, and entertainment venue to ensure our community is made aware just what family violence or abuse is and where to get help and more information.

Can you help spread the word? Please get in touch with Lyn Crook email lcrook14@hotmail.com and help spread the word to say no to domestic violence.
