PRESIDENT’S REPORT : Another busy night, with the news that while Gordon Austin is definitely on the mend, Gordon will not be able to participate in helping with the early January barbeques at Don Eather’s. Options for this barbeque have been raised as bring your own food to Don’s place, or the Club supplying some takeaway food. This will be discussed with the Board next week, but if anybody has any ideas, please let a Board member know your thoughts.
General business –
• The Family Hotel barbeque over Country Music we will be serving steak and onion sandwiches for $10.00 with minute/ steakettes, not full sized steak and the sausage and onion sandwiches for $3.00. We currently have the roster up and running on Club Runner for people to fill out.
Please check Club Runner for the roster for the Autobarn BBQ as well.(Which should be up soon)
• The Board positions for next year are all but filled, we just need to confirm Patrick O’Halloran for Public Officer, Mal McPherson for Youth Service and we are still looking for a new Club Administrator which the Board will look at next week.
• This evening we were finally able to present the in-coming President pin to Ian Bath.
• In regards to the Ron Young Award, we are currently investigating how we can get that organised and re-instated for this year. Hopefully we should have more news at the AGM.
• With regard to the RYPEN and RYLA camps, we do have credits of $1960.00 for the RYLA credits and with one position costing $1450.00 we have $510.00 left over for a second participant if required. We should have more information at the AGM regarding possible attendee that attended RYAG several years ago.
• The District is chasing us to have all members watch two short videos on child protection, which we will do at the AGM and then Millsy can tick us off in the register, keeping the register up to date.
• We have a Board meeting on the 10th December not the 2nd December, my mistake.
• The working bee this Saturday 6th December is 9:00am at the Rotary Rest Area opposite the airport and we have the completion of painting, roof works and general clean up of vegetation debris which will require edge trimmers and a couple of trailers which are being supplied by Peter and James. The large mower is not going to be available this weekend and we may have to leave a full mow of the area till later on in the month.
Our Sergeant this week was Graeme Mills and he actually did come up with some quite good fines and it was good to hear that Michelle is doing well after her recent stroke.
Our guest speaker tonight was James Hindmarsh explaining the Club Runner app. to us all and this is quite clear that the app. will become more and more useful as the members become more familiar with it. It was a great speech by James, very informative and he was introduced by Steve Searle and thanked by Phil Chaseling.
Heads and Tails winners this week were Jim Booth and Don Eather.
Out meeting next week is 6-6:30pm at the Family Hotel and will be AGM.
Cheers Scott
