Rotary Club of Ballarat West – Creating Smiles in Vanuatu!!
 
Members of the Rotary club of Ballarat West have provided a new Dental Prosthetics service for Vanuatu all the way through from concept to completion by
  • Identifying a need for this service on  visits by Rotary dental volunteers in Vanuatu
  • Designing a dental laboratory. capable of providing a comprehensive removable denture service
  • Providing by donations a full range of specialist prosthetic equipment and supplies
  • Taking a new shipping container, air-conditioning it and installing fitted cabinetry, lighting, specialist electrical wiring and plumbing and quick release air and gas fittings
 
  • Utilising Rotary facilities (RC Ballarat South shed) as a base for the fit out the shipping container
  • All work provided by licensed Rotary tradesmen to Australian standards
  • Providing many years of supplies and consumables to make the project sustainable in Vanuatu
  • Shipping the container to Vanuatu via DIK D9780 and gaining customs free clearance in Port Vila by the Rotary Club of Grassroots Vanuatu
  • Installing the laboratory on cyclone proof footings in Port Vila in a permanent position with adjacent complementary clinical dental facilities
  • Commissioning the Lab. -  testing out all equipment and materials by 2 Advanced Dental Prosthetists
  • Making dentures in the Lab.  for NiVan patients at no cost by professional Australian dentists and Prosthetists
All the work from concept to completion by past and present members of the Rotary Club of Ballarat West so no labour costs involved in the project. Registered RAWCS project 43/2014-15.

We added these donations of dental equipment and supplies (several years' supply). Donations of several years of acrylic and over 1000 new sets of denture teeth plus all the consumables needed to make dentures
 
                   
 
Then shipped it via Geelong DIK to Vanuatu and fixed it on a permanent fully serviced site
