Vincent Lazery
Vincent Hugh Lavery was Superintendent of the Derby Division of Connecticut Railway & Lighting Company at the time of serving as President of the Derby‐Shelton Rotary Club in 1958‐1959. He was born June 12, 1910 in Bridgeport, son of Thomas F. and Nora A. Lavery. He and Eleanor Kelly were married in Washington, DC September 2, 1939 and made their home in Bridgeport for their entire marriage life. At the time that he joined CRL as a bus operator in 1935 the company was not involved in the business of either railways or lighting. T
The company operated the public bus systems in serveral Connecticut towns including Bridgeport and Derby. He was appointed transportation supervisor in August of 1943 and later superintendent of the Derby division in December of 1952. When the Derby garage was sold on August 1, 1959 he became assistant superintendent of the Bridgeport division. In November of the same year he was promoted to Superintendent of the Bridgeport Division. Vin Lavery passed away in February 9, 1980 in Bridgeport at the age of 69.
