Joseph Carlson
Joseph Carlson was President of the derby‐Shelton Rotary Club in 1971‐1972 and also served as District Governor. He was born in Shelton On Feb. 2, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Shelton. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, he owned Joseph Carlson, Jr. Consulting Engineers. In addition to more than 700 structural engineering projects throughout the area. He was also the City Engineer for Shelton in 1964 and 1965. In addition to his Rotary work, he was also active throughout the community.
He was on the Board of Directors for Shelton Savings Bank and the Boys & Girls Club. Among his other memberships were the Knights of Columbus, the Highland Golf Club and the East End Yacht Club in Bridgeport. He married Anita Tur and they had two children He died on August 19, 1993 while vacationing in Bangor, Maine.
