John Lombardi

John Lombardi was president of the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club in 1942-1943. He was the proprietor of the Lombardi Motor Company on Minerva Street in Derby and he was born in Derby on July 14, 1905. The Lombardi Motor Company was started by his father in 1896. John was a product of Derby schools and Hopkins Grammar School. Prior to going to work for the Lombardi Motor Company he studied for a singing career and performed in a fine baritone voice in public concerts in New York and on the radio. 

He gave up his singing career to work at the Lombardi Motor Company where they became the local dealer for Studebakers and Packards. He also belonged to the Derby Elks and the Connecticut Automobile Dealers Association and the Valley Automotive Association. He was also affiliated with the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s Church in Milford and the Milford Yacht Club. He became a resident of Milford where he passed away in 1958.
