Franklyn Robert Sanford
Franklyn Robert Sanford served as President of the Derby‐Shelton Rotary Club during Rotary Year 1946‐ 1947. He was born in Ansonia, Connecticut July 8, 1911 son of Theodore W. and Henrietta Rennison Sanford. He was Personnel Manager for Chromium Process Company in Shelton. He was one of three individuals associated with Chromium Process to serve as President of Rotary. (See Norman Tice and Ralph Wheeler.) In addition to community service with Rotary activities he was a member of the advisory committee which led to the formation in 1959 of the Valley Health District.
He served for 10 years as Chairman of the Board of Education for the town of Oxford where he lived. He was a founding Director of the Naugatuck Valley Chapter of the Red Cross and an active member for many years conducting blood drives and as an instructor for boating safety.
Sandford, as was known, retired with his wife, Dorothy to the town of Ruskin in Hillsborough County, Florida where died in September 20, 2004 at the age of 92
