Arthur Kalman Schepero

Dr. Arthur Kalman Schepero was President of the Derby‐Shelton Rotary Club for year 1955‐1956.  He was  born May 1, 1922 in New York City, son of Rotary Past President (1945‐1946), David Schpero and Pauline  Akabas Schpero.  This is the only father/son combination to serve as president of the club as of the time  of this writing.  Dr. Arthur Schpero was an optometrist in Derby at the time of his presidency and later,  upon the death of his father, became Manager of his father’s well‐established jewelry store on Elizabeth  Street. 

 Arthur was a veteran having served in the US Army during World War II.  He was married to Jean Helen  Blume, a member of the local Yudkin family.  He passed away in Bradford on November 19, 2005 at the  age of 83 and is buried along with his parents and wife at Beth Israel Cemetery in Shelton.
