At the December 2nd meeting, BEL Rotary was proud to recognize community members Margaret Currie and Brad Filman in addition to some of their own with the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.

 
When a person is recognized with a Paul Harris Fellow, $1000. US is donated to the Rotary Foundation.  Foundation dollars make a difference in the world through work that promotes can make in peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development.  Foundation dollars change lives.  A Paul Harris recipient upholds the ideals of Rotary and holds themselves to high ethical standard in their personal professional life.  

Margaret Currie and Brad Filman were recognized by the club.  Margaret Currie has been a long time friend of Rotary and the specifically the BEL Club.  She has made the world a smaller place by hosting Group Study Eechange team members, Youth Exchange students and other visiting rotarians.  She contributes financially and by giving her time to the work of Rotary and  friends and family know they can turn to her in any situaiton.  

Brad Filman is a past member of our club and long time supporter.  He served in many capacities including president and worked on the triathlon, voluntary toll, echo shed and Christas Hamper project.  Brad continues to support the club and help when necessary.  

The club also recognized members who have contributed personally to the Rotary Foundation.  Al Hitchon has been a board member and served as treasurer for two terms.  He has hosted the club’s International Dinner, visiting Rotarians and participted in the recent Friendship Exchange.  He is an active participant in club community service and fundraising projects.  Al knows the value of the Rotary Foundation and the difference it makes to lives around the world.  Also recognized were Susan Davidson, Tony Davidson and Girv Devitt.
