I am thinking that my talk would be in the region would be about 10 to 15 minutes. As the Quadra Education Foundation is only 3 years old, I will likely tell your members a bit about HMCS Quadra, it’s history and and what goes on out there during the summer.

FRANK D. MAY

Frank was born, raised and educated in Vancouver receiving a diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia. In 1973 he attended Michigan State University to complete the International Council of Shopping Centers’ management program at the Kellogg Institute for Continuing Education.

After 3 years with the Canada Trust Company, in 1967 he joined one of British Columbia’s oldest and most prominent real estate families, the Boultbee family, and for some 37 years he was deployed in various facets of their real estate business. First as an appraiser and consultant with Western Realasearch, followed by 15 years as Manager of Development and Leasing of the Cumberland Group and then Vice-President of Boultbee Realty Ltd. for 18 years.

Frank has been involved in the development or acquisition of over 40 investment properties in Western Canada and the US having a total value approaching $700 million dollars. In addition, he either leased or developed the leasing plan and oversaw the leasing of these properties.

During his career Frank has also provided leasing, acquisition or consulting services to a host of retail and institutional clients including Aetna Canada, Canada Safeway, Royal Bank of Canada, Scotia Bank, Vancouver Centre Development Ltd., Fairmile Developments Ltd., Birks, Famous Players, Kelly Douglas, the Overwaitea Food Group and TD Canada Trust.

He is a retired Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada, as well as the Professional Division of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia and a former member the International Council Shopping Centers (ICSC). He has spoken at numerous conventions and meetings of the ICSC in both Canada and the US.

After 40 years in the commercial real estate profession Frank retired in 2004 to pursue personal interests. However, he continued to provide, strategic real estate advice, asset management services to a select group of clients until 5 years ago.

Frank is married, has 2 adult sons and 3 grandchildren. He and his wife, Heather, moved to the Comox Valley in July 2017 to be closer to and enjoy the support of family who live here. He is an avid golfer (not good), vice president of the Alumni Association of HMCS Quadra and president of the Quadra Education Foundation.
