While vacationing in Mexico Kathy and Dave Stevens, Cumberland Centennial’s Director of International Services attend Rotary meetings at the Rotary Club of Jaltemba Bay. Kathy and Dave took down kits from the Courtenay Chapter of Days for Girls for distribution. Through the local Rotary Club Kathy & Dave were put in contact with retired nurse, Vicki Flores pictured here with her two grandsons and Kathy Stevens. Kathy presented the Days for Girls kits and financial aid from Cumberland Centennial to help with transportation costs for a trip that Ms. Flores will take to distribute the kits and medical supplies; wheelchairs and food supplies including beans and rice to an isolated area in the interior of Mexico. Taking approximately 6 months to gather her supplies Ms. Flores’ trek will take her by truck transfer to 4 x 4 and then onto an open river boat to a remote village where she will supervise the distribution of her humanitarian aid. |
