Pam Willis - Comox Valley Senior Support Society

Comox Valley Senior Peer Support provides emotional support to Comox Valley seniors who are experiencing isolation, loneliness, and depression, or who are feeling vulnerable due to challenging situations they face or endure. We do this through the programs we offer: Friendly Visiting, Caregiver Support, Senior Information and Access Support (SIAS), Transit Information and Access Support (Transit Ambassador).  We use a ‘peer support’ approach. Our volunteers are all seniors themselves who come from a variety of backgrounds. We work within a non-clinical framework, approaching the people we support as equals. Respect, trust, practical support and confidentiality are hallmarks of our work.

McLoughlin Garden Society

The McLoughlin Gardens Society has formed with the vision of preserving the seaside gardens that surround the beach house while also hosting an artist-in-residence program to run through the summer months, from May to September. For the time being, the program is by invitation.

Over the coming years, the McLoughlin Gardens Society has plans to launch a membership drive, develop walking trails, install informational panels, and raise funds to convert the shed into an artist and writing studio, while also maintaining the house and gardens.
