Rotary International was established in 1905 and celebrated is 100th anniversary in 2005.  To commemorate this event, Rotary Clubs all across the globe were challenged to establish legacy projects in or near their communities. The Rotary Club of Bracebridge, heard the call, met this challenge and embarked on a mission to establish the Rotary Centennial Gardens for the community.
Through the tireless efforts and generous donations of time, resources, skills and funds; members of the community, local governments and businesses collaborated and built the Gardens that you see today. The Gardens were officially opened on July 24, 2005.
The grounds owned by the District Municipality of Muskoka are leased to the Town of Bracebridge under a 50-year lease agreement.  The Gardens are curated and managed by the Rotary Club of Bracebridge under a 50-year lease agreement with the Town of Bracebridge and showcase a variety of plants including colourful annuals, perennials, native species, sculptural elements and water features.
In addition to the areas of the Gardens maintained by Rotarians, community members and businesses alike have chosen to maintain garden beds through the Garden Sponsorship program.  Volunteer programs like Friends of the Gardens and seasonal clean up help to keep the Gardens looking their best.
The Gardens provide the community with a special place to garden, to enjoy events or a quiet refuge. The strong partnership between governments, local businesses, Rotarians and the community ensures that there will be a beautiful garden for all to enjoy for many years to come.
