 President Hu Beaver called the meeting to order at 12:15pm. The meeting was held at The Kwataqnuk Resort. Mac Swan led us in song. Rich Forbis gave the invocation and Megan Beard served justice.
Announcements are as follows:
 
“Happy bucket” contributors were Hu, Roxanne, Megan, Bret, Larry Peltz, David Fansher, Mac and Jim Thaden (new member).
 
Visiting guests: Debbie Ofstad and and John Parra (Dan Barz).
 
Megan won the drawing and gave the money to the Martini Fund
 
Jim Oates won the auction for the gift basket from the District Governor (via Red Lodge Rotary) and designated the proceeds to Mission Valley Aquatics (after his first choice for Treasurer’s Retirement Fund was rejected).
 
Larry Ashcraft mentioned the Flathead Lake International CinemaFest January 25-27. Polson Rotary will again cook breakfast burritos for the children’s movie on Saturday the 25th. If you would like to help, meet at the Lake Bar on Highway 93 about 7:00am.
 
Hu Mentioned the board will begin meeting on the second Tuesday of each month.  At today’s board, Jim Thaden was approved as a new member.  He is the new executive director of Lake County Community Development.  He will officially be inducted at a general meeting soon.
 
Jim Ofstad had the program and introduced his son Tyler, a 1999 Polson High School graduate, who attended Stanford University and is now an MD, PHD working as an ophthalmologist at Glacier Eye Clinic in Kalispell. Tyler gave an interesting power point presentation showing how we see and how he does what he does to help us see. He mentioned cornea transplant and cataract surgeries, cornea and lens replacement surgeries and his work concerning retinal detachment. He spoke briefly on how diabetes effects eye health and how gene therapy is benefitting his profession. He stressed that everyone schedule an annual eye examination.
 
The next Polson Rotary meeting will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Birthday talks will be the program. January birthdays include Shandice Kerr, David Lewing and David Fansher.
