Hu Beaver called the meeting to order at 12:15pm. The meeting was held at The Kwataqnuk Resort. Sharon Fulton led us in song. Dick Beighle gave the invocation.
Announcements are as follows:
Rotary minute: Hu discussed the Polson Rotarians visit to the District Conference in Helena last weekend. Items discussed were the fight against polio, RYLA and Rotaract. The group met with Rotary exchange students studying in Montana. The Mayor of Helena, an immigrant from Africa spoke to the group and a 6th grade class presented a musical number.

Mark Beckley and Bob Slaven were guests.
The drawing was won by Jim Ofstad and the money was given to the club.
The May 21 and 28 programs will be switched. Brodie will have the 21st program and birthday talks are slated for the 28th.
Bret Richardson spoke about the Festival For Youth partnership applications for this year. Three entities have applied; The Flathead Lakers, Polson Middle and High School Bands, Polson Junior Golf Program and Mission Valley Aquatics. Those groups will be invited to present their requests on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 4:00pm at the Greater Polson Community Foundation office next to the Salish on Main Street. Let Bret know if you would like to be in attendance.
Larry Ashcraft introduced Polson Bay Golf Course golf professional Cameron Milton. Cameron thanked the Polson Rotary Club for the two previous donations that allowed the Mission Valley Junior Golf Association to form and create programs in the Polson and St. Ignatius schools and at Polson Bay Golf Course. 5 years ago when the first donation was made, the program had 13 kids. It now has 72 and is one the largest in the Northwest. It has been featured by the PGA and CBS sports. It has allowed Cameron to sit on the PGA’s National Teaching Committee. The next step for the Mission Valley Junior Golf Association is to build an indoor learning center complete with two simulators. The facility would be an extension off the north portion of the golf course restaurant. Junior golfers would have free access and the general public would pay to use the simulators. The project cost is $150,000. Camron said $10,000 has been raised and the ask of Rotary is $20,000. Camron hopes to break ground in September 2019 and have the project completed by spring 2020.
