January 4 had 20 in attendance including Lisa Holcomb, visiting Rotarian from Missoula Sunrise.  Ed Meese, city manager was the program speaker.  He spoke about the Marijuana Task Force, water issues, capital improvement plan, the police department's Drug Endangered Chikdren Program, street repair issues, and communication issues.  

 

January 11 was both a board and general meeting day with 15 in attendance.  Jessica King, co-organizer of the Flathead Lake International Cinefest (FLIC) was the program speaker and outlined the schedule for the January 27-29 events.  Rotary will be serving the kids' breakfast and has donated $ 500 to FLIC.

 

January 18 had the new school superintendent Mike Cutler as the program speaker.  15 were in attendance.  Mike moved here from Philipsburg and talked about an upcoming building bond issue (for a reduced amount), labor shortages, curriculum issues, and high school sports.  Mike also won the raffle and donated to Loaves and Fishes.

 

January 25th had light attendance with 12 in attendance including Cheryl Maldanado as a proposed new member.  Member Toni Whealon, as the President of the Greater Polson Community Foundation was the speaker.  The Foundation has donated almost a $ 1,000,000 in its history and also has approximately a $ 1,000,000 in its endowment fund.  Its activities have touched many areas of community needs.  GPCF latest funding activity is the Polson High School Career Connection Coaching program to focus on students who want to pursue careers in trades, such as construction, mechanics, etc.

 

January 29th saw a dozen or so members preparing and serving the kids' breakfast at the FLIC movie festival.
