Welcome to another issue of our monthly bulletin! This issue contains highlights of our last meeting, current news and events, and what's planned for our next meeting.
A beautiful setting for a Rotary meeting. Please mark your calendars for our next monthly meeting at 11:45 AM on Wednesday, April 30 at the Riverside Bar & Grill, the blue building behind the Alanson Post Office.
At our last meeting, Randy Evans inducted two honorary members who have made wonderful individual contributions to our club. Chris Henderschott, our fantastic host and owner of the Riverside, and Becky Sevener, a loyal supporter of the club and steadfast Manna volunteer.
In the world of Rotary, honorary members represent a special designation awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the club and have demonstrated strong support for its causes. (Honorary members do not vote or pay dues.)
Announcements
Our club was well represented on April 14 at the Manna Food Project warehouse. Members Susan Brochu-Hoshield, Bobbie Golani, Betsy Lawrence, Becky Sevener, Denise Evans, and Lynne Lesky packed emergency food boxes as well as Food 4 Kids backpacks. Each week, Manna Volunteers assemble and deliver over 1800 backpacks to 30 elementary schools, pre-school and head start programs, and public libraries. Alanson Public Library is one of the area libraries that receives backpacks.
Due to the ice storm, our MDOT Adopt-a-Highway pickup has been delayed. The new date will be Saturday, May 10 with May 17 scheduled as a back-up rain day. Susan Brochu-Hoshield will have a sign-up sheet and details at our meeting next week.
For those of you who monitor our collection jars for the Quarter Mile Challenge, please empty the jars as they become full, and bring the cash to the meeting so we can deposit the funds.
Our annual officer exchange is scheduled for 5:30 PM on Monday, June 23 at Camp Petosega. Pat Ryde, our outgoing President will transfer the gavel to Cindy Neahr, our new President, and we will all enjoy a potluck picnic with the main entree provided by the club. More information will follow.
Our club continues to grow, and to keep up our progress, May will be New Member Month. Please plan to bring friends and prospective members to the meeting on Wednesday, May 28.
