Dear Club Members, Here is a Draft of our signature event for your review:
Event: Wake the Lakes
Host: Rotary Club of Inland Waterway, Alanson, Michigan
What it Benefits: Children of the Inland Waterway, including the middle school musical opportunities of the Big Water Creative Arts administered "Rock Jam" in Alanson and Pellston
Date: August 23, 2025, 1-4 PM
Location: TBD
Inspired by the unique recreational opportunities of northern Michigan’s Inland Waterway, this Rotary fundraiser will be a test run for a larger event in future years. Team sponsors, boat skippers, and volunteer passengers will raise contributions to support approximately ten boats at $1,000 per boat. Each boat will be decorated with sponsor and other signage. Regular updates and sponsor information will be posted to social media. The date will be a celebration of success of the fundraiser. After a flotilla procession on Crooked and Pickerel Lakes, the boats will arrive at a designated gathering place for food and entertainment. Prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams. In the first year, “friendly” participants will include members of the Inland Waterway Rotary Club, other area Rotary clubs, friends, and family. The purpose of this first year is to learn, improve, and have fun.
