Guinness World Record Event Thank You

Dear Rotarians and friends,

We want to thank you for your tremendous support of our EPIC SATURDAY event.  Over 170 Zone Institute participants joined with us as we celebrated the 100 year anniversary of The Rotary Foundation, presented a big check for Polio Plus by Utah Interactors, had a parade, music and dance by local refugee ethnic groups, made history by forming the worlds largest human image of a cog (the Rotary Wheel) and all the while interacting and involving our newest Americans!

As promised we are sending you the official photo of the event with the Guinness World Record certificate.  Other photos are available on the Zone Website . Our photo/videography committee is working hard to make available an assortment of photos available to download online and a 3-5 min. video of the entire event.  As a teaser, we have a clip from Videographer/drone pilot, Brad Dowdle.  Please click on the following link to view it.   https://youtu.be/2GkUJ1VaSps

We were delighted that KSL TV, the #1 news channel in Utah, covered at 2 newscasts the Makin' History with Rotary, the Guinness/Refugee/Foundation Centennial Event. The #1 newspaper in Utah also had a great article the next morning.

We hope that you enjoyed this event, many, many volunteers worked hard to make it special.  We hope that your hearts were touched as much as ours with the Life Stories of the incredible challenges and obstacles that our newest Americans have faced. We hope that you take with you to your home districts a desire to reach out and find ways to support and mentor your refugee/immigrant communities.  If you have any questions on how to reach out to this special group, please email PDG Jerry Summerhays, at summerhaysgs@gmail.com.

Once again, thank you for your incredible support of this event and watch your email as with in the next week we will make available online a photo album and full video

Sincerely,  in Rotary Service,

Michael Wells
