Daren Watkins is an award-winning journalist and an award-winning event planner. He came to the City of Lewisville in July of 2013 and hit the ground running, bringing himself up to speed on the preparations for Western Days. He came to Lewisville from the City of Mesquite where he grew the Real. Texas. Festival. from the ground up. He has been involved in all facets of special event planning, but places a special focus on securing sponsorship. He is an avid endurance athlete, having 7 marathons, 4 half marathons and an attempt at a triathlon under his belt.
