Fellow Rotarians,
We have experienced great tragedy recently with the loss of many young lives. As Rotarians, we generally band together to do whatever it takes to help out those in need. In this case, the Newtown, Connecticut Rotary Club is assisting the community with comforting the families and providing assistance to those affected by this horrific day. Please visit Newtown, CT Rotary where you can learn more about how you can help your fellow Rotarians in need.
Sincerely, Bill McClintock |

Annual Dinner - Officers Installed, Awards Presented

Rotary News - June 1, 2010
|
The October 21, 2014 Bonners Ferry Rotary Club meeting was a very busy one. Presidsent Jim Paulus called the meeting to order. During the meeting, the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce received a $500 check from rotary to assist them in promoting and putting on the upcoming Harlem Ambassadors comedy basketball game, which is going to be held on Novmmber 14, 2014 at the Bonners Ferry Middle School. The $500 is to help the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce stage the "Drug Free Assembly" in the local schools. Here is the presentation of the check by Rotary President Jim Paulus to Chamber President Tamra Hiatt: In addition, the Naples Food Bank received a $500 check from the rotary (pictured below). And the Rotary Speaker's Pen was also presented: The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club had visitors, including: 1. Gubernatorial candidate A.J. Balukoff; 2. Bert Marley, candidate for Lieutenant Governor. 3. Dean Hagerman, who is donating his time and efforts to drive Messrs. Balukoff and Marley around this great state of Idaho. It was noted that our club received a card from Bill McClintock's daughter. Bill McClintock served previously as head of "Public Relations." The members were informed that at the recent board meeting, it was decided that henceforth, the 50/50 draw will be kept in-house. Laura Maguire, from the local Hispice program, spoke to the local rotarians. She spoke about the "Annual Rose Fundraiser Drive." Hospice has been active in Bonners Ferry for 27 years and for a $20 donation, you receive a dozen roses. The Bonners Ferry Walkers sent a written thank you for helping them with a donation for the fight against Alzeimer's Disease. The 50/50 draw was pulled out by A.J Balukoff and Dave Walter won the right to select a card form the deck. His choice pf the "Seven of Hearts" failed to win this week's drawing. The money from the 50/50 goes to help fund scholarships for the local kids from the community
|
On October 7, 2014, Rotary member David Gray of Bonners Ferry, win the 50/50 draw, which had reached the amount of $1145.00. Thus, Dave was able to receive $572.50. Using that money. each of the grand children of David and Dottie Gray received $82.00 (rounded off). That made seven children and the Gray household very happy. |
The calendar raffle winners for the months of August and September, 2014, were drawn and processed on October 16, 2014, at Mugsy's in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where the club usually meets. Participating for the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club were: Jennifer Fessler, Glenda Poston, Linda Alt and Jack Douglas. Most of the winners were $10 winners, but there were also some $50 winners. Club members are reminded that the calendars for 2015 are being passed around and that now is the time to begin selling them. The proceeds will as always go to scholarships and worthy causes in our community and this is a fun way to raise some of the money needed. |
Yes, it is time for the 2015 calendar drive. As you know, this time of the year, as a fundraiser for the many good works of Rotary within the community, we have a calendar drive. The calendars cost only $20 each and only 500 are printed and sold. There are 84 chances to win $50 in the raffles, plus one shot at $500. As we all know, they go fast and almost sell themselves with any effort at all. The proceeds go to the many good works of Rotary. For instance, last year Rotary gave out $14,000 in scholarships, $10,000 to the Boundary County Fairgrounds Park Project, and many other things. Make sure you have yours and get them sold. |
The Scholarship Reception held on Thursday, May 13 at the Kootenai River Inn was a very successful event.

Bianca Has Left the Building
Meetings at ye olde club house just aren't the same. Oh sure, members come and go, some make it to meetings now and then, but there is one constant smile that is now gone AWOL. Ladies and Gentlemen, Bianca has left the building. Our foreign exchange student has headed back home. However not with out paying the price. She first had to survive the ride to the airport with speedy Dave Mc., who mave has set a new record for B.F to GEG. We will not publish the time until the statute of limitations has run. After making to the airport, the United States Customs did their best to keep her in the U.S. They almost taxed her back in to poverty. If not but for her card drawings winnings, she may have had to sell some of her possessions to be able to leave. Well I am still waiting to hear how the rest of her homeword travels went...Bianca..if you are reading this, we still expect a report once per week to know how your week went!
