MARIAH RAE WINS 2014-15 DYW

It’s now official…Mariah Rae, sponsored by the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club won the 2014-2015 Distinguished Young Women of Bonners Ferry competition on Saturday evening, April 26th.  In addition to a $2,300 scholarship. Mariah received several gifts including a travel allowance to the state competition in November. During the fitness portion of the competition, she performed a dance to a contemporary hoop dance that she choreographed. 

Mariah, the daughter of Victor and Tess Rae, made a short presentation to Rotary on April 22nd about the competition, some of the extracurricular activities that keep her active in high school, and her aspirations for her future as a graduate in pediatric nursing.

Formerly known as Jr. Miss, Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women. In addition to earning scholarships for college, those who participate in the Distinguished Young Women program develop friendships, self-confidence and other life skills that pave the way for future success. The Distinguished Young Women experience is open to every eligible young woman and there is no cost to participate.
