RAMBLINGS FROM THE BOARD AND RECENT WEEKLY MEETINGS

 

 

  • Pat Carson, Marcivee Cossette and Kirsten Madden were honored for their accomplishments in the sale of all 500 Raffle Calendars for 2013.  The Raffle Calendar is one of the club’s best fundraisers, with more than a 70% return on investment, netting approximately $7,000 in revenue.Image

  • Norm Braatz was recognized as the first BF Rotarian to become a Paul Harris Fellow +1 (Multiple Paul Harris Fellow).  To be recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, a contribution of $1,000 or more is made to ‘The Rotary Foundation’.  For additional gifts totaling $1,000 or more, a Paul Harris Fellow is recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow.  Currently, 10 active members and 1 honorary member are considered Paul Harris Fellows. 
  • Linda Alt received a gift certificate from Greg Johnson for her outstanding work chairing the Community Breakfast and Silent AuctionImageThe 4/20 breakfast netted more than $2,000 including the 33 businesses and individuals who contributed to the silent auction.  All of the proceeds are designated for local scholarships.  BF Rotary also contributed $500 to the Badger Boosters for their work preparing and serving the breakfast to the more than 400 participants.
  • President Greg thanked Rotarians Jenny Fessler and Glenda Poston.  Jenny has done an outstanding job as treasurer in one of the most complex jobs in Rotary. Glenda assumed the position as secretary in January 2013 and has performed admirably for the organization.
  • Bill Goodanetz was welcomed back with improved health while Dave Gray is recuperating from hip surgery. All Rotarians anticipate that Bill and Dave will be back fully recovered in short time.
  • We are also delighted that Dave Walter will once again be the coordinator of the Kootenai River Ride to be held in September 2013 (Greg Johnson will assist Dave). Also that the Board approved honorary rotary membership for Mark McInnes who serves our club in a continuing leadership position with the WaCanId Bike Ride, scheduled this year for 9/16-9/21; that Ron Sukenik will be rejoining Rotary full time on 7/1 subsequent to his retirement from the county; that Dave McIntosh continues to keep us informed about former Rotary exchange students; and that Lisa Holmes is preparing for her role as incoming president of the Rotary Club on July 1st with formation of the committee chairs.
  • The Board is developing three public relations enhancements......udated messages and voices for the daily radio spots over 'Big Sky' broadcasting, developing a variety of sponsorships for local businesses to reduce or eliminate the need for repetitive financial requests from them while we promote their business, and developing the capability -- on the BF Rotary website -- to donate to Rotary, soon to be a 501C(3) organization. Members can also pay their dues and the public can secure passage for upcoming Rotary events like the Kootenai River Ride (KRR). 
  • Noted for the record are several members whom we have not seen for some time. These  include JoJo Baker, Patti Branson, Marc Gray, Darrell Kerby, Sean McCoy, Linda McFadden, Therese Osborne, David Sims, Tim Wilson. Lon Woodbury, and Dave Young.  One hour a week is not asking too much...
  • Jennifer Jensen who has served as Chairman of the Foundation Committee this year will be leaving us for a short period of time to deliver a new baby
