The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club will be sponsoring the 2nd Annual U.S. Customs vs. Border Patrol charity flag football game on June 15, 2013 at 5:00 PM at the Bonners Ferry High School football field.

In June 2012, the BF Rotary Club raised over $3,000 for the purchase of a customized tricycle for a seven-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy. Aiden Brenamen needed a specially made tricycle to help him with his mobility and independence. This was made possible with the help of the Rotary Club, local businesses and our community coming together to help a great family.

On June 15, 2013, with the aid of local businesses and the community, the Rotary Club and the CBP are well underway in planning the 2nd annual charity flag football game, this time to benefit Abby Bliss who has been diagnosed with Autism. Abby is the seven-year-old daughter of Jack and Amy Bliss who would benefit from assistance from our generous community.

The football game would help fund the Bliss's goal of having a fence installed around their yard, allowing Abby to spend more time in the yard at their home, and affording Jack and Amy some peace of mind. The Bliss's house is located next to the highway and Abby is always in danger with traffic.

In addition to this worthy project, we will also be raising funds for the “young adults with special needs work program”.  Pat Hart and the U.S. Forest Service give both youth and young adults with special needs the opportunity to be part of a trail crew.  This program gives these kids a positive environment in which to earn an income and an opportunity to share their courage and enthusiasm with other youth from our community.

We are hoping to see you at a great free family fundraising event on June 15th.  For more information contact: James Solum at 208- 866-4312 or Ron Sukenik at 208-290-4401.
