HIGHLIGHTS OF BOARD MEETING OF MARCH 2011

The Board of Directors met on March 1st. Present were Bill McClintock, Wilma Devore, Clarence Jones, Ron Sukenik, Lisa Holmes, Dave Gray, Greg Johnson and Jennifer Jensen (for Norm Braatz).

Lisa gave the Treasurer's Report providing information on the balance sheet, income statement, event center profit and loss (e.g., calendar raffle, bike rides), and aged receivables (outstanding member dues). Cash in the bank included a restricted amount for scholarships. A separate checking account for scholarships will be opened to reflect exact funds set aside for scholarships. It was determined that the Secretary would contact members who have outstanding dues.

Committee reports were provided as follows: Club Administration discussed review of the member/orientation guide and bylaws; Membership Committee reported on new member orientation follow-up and results of contacts with members who have recently resigned their membership (primarily time constraints, dues not really a factor); Foundation Committee requested the Board to approve the number and dollar amount for scholarships in 2011 (Board authorized an amount of money that would allow the committee to make it's own decisions concerning the number and monetary contributions for scholarships compared to 2010 in which $7,800 was spent on 17 scholarships); Service Projects Committee reviewed the application materials including the April deadline for applying for a District Simplified Grant to fund a specific community project.

Additional business to come before the Board included (1) a status report of the Rotoplast Mission (Cleft Palate, Philippines, October 2011); (2) Kootenai River Ride will have at leat three coordinators to head up the project this year scheduled for 9/10; (3) Exchange Student Friendship Tour is being coordinated by three members to host 23 students on June 1-2. Report is expected to the membership later in March; (4) three new members have been proposed and approved by the board (Bushnell, Fessler, Osborne); (5) Request for Funds from the organizers of the 2011 Senior Class All Night Party. Board approved $500; (6) RYLA Camp for Youth for 18-25 year olds located in Canada for one week in June. Rotary club must agree to the $600 fee for the student from our community who is interested in attending.
