ROTARY 2011 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION 


  


 

 

 


The Rotary Club of Bonners Ferry is a non-profit organization open to all individuals interested in expanding their sense of self and community.

 

The Rotary Scholarship is offered to any deserving citizen of Boundary County pursuing a higher education in any accredited college, university or vocation school.  Scholarships will be award only twice to any candidate. 

 

Scholarship selection is on the basis of the applicant's academic achievement, community service, personal goals and motivation.  The scholarship must be used within one year of the date awarded.  The scholarship will be sent directly to the school of the recipient's choice.  Recipients will be invited to attend a Rotary Club meeting.  Rotary meets each Tuesday noon at Mugsy's restaurant.  A dessert reception for Rotary scholarship recipients and their families will be held on May 12 at 7 P.M. at the Kootenai River Inn.

Directions:

 

1.  Complete all sections and add any information that you think might be necessary or helpful.

 

2.  Format should be strictly followed.  Documents should be typed or clearly legible.

 

3.  Submit three (3) letters of recommendation.  Preferably, one should be from a teacher who knows you well.  The others may be from employer, minister or family friend.  Do not submit recommendations from relatives.

 

4.  Application should be secured in a clear term-paper folder in the following order.

            a.  Cover page which includes full legal name

            b.  Personal History

            c.  Transcript- most recent copy of transcript including GPA score.

            d.  Letters of recommendation

 

5.  Scholarship winners need to send proof of registration to the Rotary Club scholarship chairman as soon as they are registered at the school of their choice.  Please remember to include full name and complete address of their choice of school so that the scholarship award check can be sent.  Should you decide not to pursue higher education at this time, please notify the Rotary Club scholarship committee chairman of your decision so the award can be give to an alternate student.

 

6.  Finalists may be invited to go through an interview.

            1.  Please write a statement describing yourself.  Include any special talents or skills in a particular field, achievements at work or in academics and community activities in which you are involved. "Service Above Self" is the motto of Rotary; we are especially interested in community service activities in which you have participated. 

 

            2.  Please describe your reasons for pursuing further education. Include personal and academic goals, individuals who have inspired you or circumstances that have led you to this decision.  Include the reasons why you feel you deserve consideration for this scholarship.
