Blaine’s Automotive and The Rotary Club of Washago & Area – Centennial have partnered to assist the victims of last spring’s flooding in Ramara Township.

On October 4th, 2013, Blaine’s Automotive held an event to promote the company’s tire business expansion and donated a percentage of the proceeds to Rotary. The event resulted in a donation of $400 from Blaine’s to Rotary. In considering where to allocate the funds, members of the Rotary Club of Washago & Area – Centennial decided they would match the funds 2:1 for Ramara flood relief.

The result was a donation of $1200 to the Ramara Flood Relief Committee. Flood Relief Committee Chair Mary Bax said “We are so pleased to receive these funds. They will now be matched 2:1 again by the Province of Ontario’s Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP) through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and will translate into $3600 in much needed assistance. Our goal of $12,500 is now two thirds complete.”

Rotary Club of Washago president William Kinghorn said “This was a very generous donation by Blaine’s Automotive and together, we wanted to ensure that the contribution received the maximum impact in assistance to our community.” Mark Stein, manager of Blaine’s Automotive says “Our investment into the tire market has had a positive impact and we are pleased to give something back to the community that supports us. This is our way of thanking our customers for their patronage. We are very pleased that our donation was matched to help the flood victims in Ramara.”
