Kelly Brock gave an informative presentation titled “Nutrition and Mental Health” at our regular meeting on Wednesday, May 2nd.
Kelly, a Clinical Nutritionist in private practice, gave a complete synopsis on the subject, from explaining how nutrition affects mental health, to eating disorders, risk factors, and corrective behavior.

Her talk described how nutrition is often overlooked when dealing with mental health issues. She explained the impact of low glycemic index diet on anxiety, and of various eating habits and depression, underlined with results of case studies. She emphasized the importance of balanced diets and physical exercise.

Kelly also described the difference between disordered eating and eating disorder. Eating disorders are a widespread, often unrecognized problem, affecting the quality of life for many within the general population.
