Oh dear! Half the 2024-25 Rotary year is past! We’ve only six months to put into action some of the ideas we’ve been sharing: a sensory garden; an environmental booklet; encouraging eco-friendly practices in local businesses; educating ourselves and others on the environmental issues; participating in saving the trees on Semiahmoo Trail; getting new members; and dare we try to continue the Rotary Climate Fair?
This past six months has certainly not been without its sadness. We mourn the deaths of Lindagene Coyle, our most senior Rotarian, and Elna Jeanes, our most senior club member, who became a Rotarian at the age of 100! We value their contributions to our club, and though they are no longer with us physically, their spirit lives on through the memories we share.
We are a small club still struggling to find its place, but we are beginning ... and that’s exciting!
December was a month of discussing goals and planning our vision for 2025!
We decided that our focuses should be:
Being a bridge: Connecting people, organizations, and institutions. Elevating already existing projects and groups working towards Environmental protection and stewardship.
Education and Awareness of environmental issues and solutions. Guest speakers and inclusion of young generation in conversation
Biodiversity in Business: paradigm shift to consider the natural world and social issues.
