Rotary Meeting May 22, 2015

President Bob called the meeting to order promptly at noon. He welcomed everyone and announced how honored he was that he is the President of this "Award Winning Club"!

Sally Williamson led the group in the Invocation.  Sally's invocation was very specific to the needs / accomplishments of the SCW Rotary Club, Rotary International, our community, our country and the world.

Bill Clark let the group in The Pledge of Allegiance after he pointed out that our meeting was in honor of Memorial Day.  Bill Cogdall followed up with reciting the Four-Way Test.  The traditional "and have fun" was enthusiastically chanted at the end.  Don Sather led club members in singing “America The Beautiful” in tribute to Memorial Day.

Ed Cirillo made us laugh by poking fun at Brien Hendrickson, who recently suffered several strokes, by suggesting that "had Brien bought more mulligans at our recent golf tournament that he may have able to avoid one or more of his recent strokes.  President Bob was shocked and was going to levy a fine to Ed when Brien said no fine ... he was happy to be at the meeting to hear that poke.

Tom Tibbits delivered the “Fun & Games” using some very simple questions which had some very difficult answers.  He collected money from every table except the front table.

The Wellness Report was unusually short which is good news!  There were several announcements:
June 12th- The Rotary Board Meeting
June 12th- Club presentation of a $15,00.00 check to The Rec Centers for Meditation Garden
June 20th – Induction of Governor Elect Paul Pulicken at the Colonnade
June 26th – Induction of Al Gervenack of President SCW Rotary Club 2016
September 13th – Rotary Day at Chase Field
December 9th – The Annual SCW Rotary Christmas Party

We had a very active “Happy Bucks” President Bob paid the $20 fine missing the last meeting then added a little more for winning 6 awards at the recent District Conference!  There were many "Happy" Rotarians including Betsy Spath, Dick Rossi, Pieter Vos, Brien Hendrickson, and many more.  The total amount of "Happy Bucks" was close to $250 ... Way To Go You Happy Rotarians!  The greatly anticipated ticket drawings were next and no one won the $927, YAY!!

Dick Stuckey introduced our speaker, Gerry Berger, who stepped in for Quint Heckert who had to cancel due to a recent surgery.  Her presentation about the flags on R H Johnson Blvd was very interesting filled with many interesting facts and some emotional parts as well.

The meeting adjourned promptly at 1:00pm
