We are back to our regular meeting place this Friday! Last week our meeting took place at the "Original #1 Brothers Pizza" on Wednesday. Those who attended were able to meet our inbound Youth Exchange student from Sweden, Noah Blomme. Thank you, Assistant Governor Brendan Kennedy, for joining us! I think it is fair to say we had a very good time!
At this Wednesday evening's Board conference call, we will talk about a Rotary Zone pilot opportunity called "The Sustainable Rotary Club Project." The club's Board of Directors will vote to determine if we indeed join this pilot program. The Zone folks are holding a spot for us. This initiative fits very nicely with the discussions we've been having about our club's strategic plan; at our July 28th club meeting, all in attendance were excited about joining the pilot.
We have been contacted by the school nurse, Patricia, at Peoria High School. She is looking for a volunteer to help her on a "somewhat regular" basis in her office. If you are interested in discussing this further, please let me know and I'll connect you with her.
Rotary International has selected a replacement President-Elect. As you recall, Sam Owori of Uganda passed away on July 13th following surgery. The new Rotary International President-Elect is Mark Maloney of the Rotary Club of Decatur, Alabama.
Finally, we have been approached by the clothing bank coordinator at the Vineyard Food & Clothing Bank about a current need they have, with the hopes that we might be able to help. They are in need of boys and men's socks. From now through our meeting on September 1st, please bring boys and/or men's socks (or money to purchase them) to our club meeting. They must be either new or like new. Thank you for considering this; it is a critical need for many families in our area.
See you Friday morning in the big room at Brothers!
With gratitude,
