Another active week for the Anthem Rotary club.

As President Ryan said, one of the best things that happen in our club is to be joined by another service minded individual.  This Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Sam Crump’s sponsee, Frankie Ruiz of Azetca Home Services.  Frankie was a Rotarian in Flagstaff and wanted to channel his enthusiasm for community service in his hometown of Anthem.  After spending some time with Frankie at St. Mary’s Food Bank it is easy to see the enthusiasm he has for helping others.  Thanks for joining us Frankie, and I am sure I speak for everyone in the club when I say we are excited to see all you can bring to Service Beyond Self.

On Saturday members of the Anthem Rotary Club traveled to the St. Mary’s Food Bank and built, packed, and stacked boxes of food for those in need.  Claudia Cucitro who has worked as an employee of the food bank for 22 years organized the well-attended event that not only helped those in need, but was a lot of fun to boot.  Thanks to all of the Rotarians that took a little time from their Saturday to once again apply Service Above Self.

And finally, our speaker on Friday was the club’s own Francisco “Paco” Tort.  Paco explained how the grant process works and how our donations channel through the Foundation to the designated projects.  This was the second presentation Paco gave us in the past three weeks, so he seemed pretty well versed in his new role as speaker stand-in.  Thanks Paco!
