Anthem Rotary honors Sam Crump, Past Legislator, Charter member and First Anthem Rotary President with a send off check of $4000.00 for his Sunrise house Orphanage in Uganda.

Sam Crump always had a very strong motivation to serve his community. He helped established not one, but two new Rotary Clubs. The first was in his hometown of Sebastopol, CA, in 2000.  The second was in Anthem, seven years ago. He is a former representative for District Six in the Arizona State legislature and former owner of Boates & Crump Law Firm.  But his greatest impact is being felt in a community 12,000 miles away, Fort Portal, Uganda.  Sam and his family are moving back to Sebastopol, Ca.  Where he will rejoin his local Rotary and continue to support Sunrise House.  His Rotarian brothers and sisters will certainly miss Sam and his family.

Sam had found his Rotary project. He named it "Sunrise House" because he hoped it would symbolize a new day of hope for those who had none.

Sam moved to Arizona in 2002 and helped establish the Anthem Rotary the following year. He convinced our local chapter to adopt his Sunrise House project as their own. Every year since then, the Anthem Rotary has underwritten $7500 in support for Sunrise House.  Ray Norris, President of Anthem Rotary says that, "we have given close to $50,000 in support of Sunrise House because of the need."

Today, Sunrise House houses 40+ children in their 1700 square foot building. These children, along with 10 more who live at boarding schools, attend school daily.

To help meet the needs of the project, Sam has enlisted help from Hope4Kids International. Headquartered in Anthem, Hope4Kids is a faith-based organization that operates orphanages in many parts of the world.

Larry Evans past President of Anthem Rotary, says, "Sam's contribution to the State of Arizona, Anthem community and Anthem Rotary will be missed, and wish him and his family the best in their move."
