Rotary Board of Director's Meeting                                          July 10, 2008

Greetings from the home of Doug DeMuth where it is RAINING HARD!!!

 

Approval of Secretary's minutes of June 5th, 2008 accepted.  Motion  to accept was made by Barry Gregory.  The move carried.

Treasurer's report has been tabled until the next Board of Director's meeting

 

July 3rd, 2008 event:  Our projected earnings after expenses is $6000.00

 

Community Service: A propsal was made to appropriate $300 to entertain the BCHS principal, Teachers, staff and faculty prior to the start of the 2008 school year.  Larry Evans made a motion to accept.  The move carried.

 

Dictionary project:  Jan Samar has accepted the position of chairman for the Oct. 16th, 08, project.

 

Junior Achievement:  New President Tim Maki has budgeted $3000.00 for the new JA BizTown project.  Tim's emphasis will be towards education.  Your secretary, Keith Standerfer, has committed to the 2008 Nail Drive Project Junior Achievement of Arizona which will to double the space JA has in place for 4th and 5th graders in our area and throughout Arizona.  .  Late August, 2008, is the approximate date for the unveiling of the new space which I will attend.

 

Rotary Roundup, 2008, is being chaired by Kerry Freeman, and will happen on Sept. 27th, 2008.  Fellow Rotarian, this project will be upon us before you know it!!!!!!   Begin thinking about it yesterday!!!

 

Jan 30-Feb 2nd, 2009 ,  is our club's opportunity to participate in a hands on wheelchair event to Mexico.   Start thinking about it tonight.

 

Membership:  Robert Hall has been proposed as a new member of our club by David Morgan.  Mr. Hall is a previous member of 3 Rotary clubs and is a Paul Harris Fellow.   His application is on the website to be reviewed by the club membership.

 

Our own Bill Irmen has donated $500 to the disaster relief in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and his request for our club to match his donation has been approved by the Board of Directors.  Larry Evans made the motion to approve Bill's request. 

 

It cannot go without saying that Bill Irwen and his staff have gone out of their way to assist my own daughter, April's, and her husband's, Jared's, dilemma with a broken down Mitsubishi, and their conflict with a warranty company.  Bill's office mouse, Carol, has been instrumental with the resolution of a difficult situation.  I thank him with an entire raisin pie!!!!!!  Thank the Good Lord for Rotarians!!!

 

This meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.  Tim is off to a great start!!!!

 

Please be aware of the fact Larry Evans has served well beyond the call of duty as our President and a Half!!!   Thank you, Larry!!!!
