Kelly Garvin President Elect opened the meeting with Tom Ward sharing a Rotary moment regarding the eradication or control of polio. It is feasible and essential to eradicate Polio where it is still bothersome: Nigeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India. Kelly introduced Bill Decker as a potential new member... welcome Bill!!

Happy News: Paul Carroll told us that Zana Vejsa a Kosovo exchange student has entered Mankato State and that Bujeta's younger brother is now entering MCC. Gary Wieskamp will retire from MPW on Friday...Kudos to you... Dave Utley has been a Rotarian for 55 years and Mark Mather shared greetings from Sister Irma Ries.

Kelly reminded us to sign up for Steak or Beans to support our allegiance to the winning team Hawkeye or Cyclone.

Program: Jeff Armstrong introduced David Lane and Jan Phillips of the Muscatine Community College Drama and Music Departments. David provided an overview of performances last year and shared the calendar highlights for the upcoming season. You can check this out at the MCC website. Jan Phillips talked about the importance of art in one's education. Students are from Kosovo, Pakistan, Africa who participate in choir. Students are active in the local orchestra, various bands and choirs. Jan encouraged any adult wanting to take lessons to contact her and she would find someone to teach pretty much any instrument.
