Program: Chuck Swanson presented a very informative program update on the new Hancher facility and events throughout the state of Iowa.  He is excited about the upcoming "Living with Floods" performance on the Muscatine Riverfront on June 11, 2013.  The commemorative event features the Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans.  Chuck reminded us that the Preservation Hall Jazz Band played over 40 years ago at Hancher and sees this as a celebration of Hancher's 40th Anniversary. This event commemorates floods across the state and is a collaborative project between many disciplinary fields at the University.  Floods take away electricity, and water and cause havoc.  In New Orleans, the music came back quickly after the Katrina floods and this event will feature the excitement of recovery and rebirth after a disasterous event like a flood.

Hancher is being rebuild north of the old building. A site ceremony is being held on June 29, 2013 at 4:00 pm to which we were all invited. New Hancher will have a seating capacity of 1800.

Chuck is always very gracious and has a great love for his work, Hancher, the state of Iowa and, of course, Muscatine!!
