Tony Joseph led the meeting at the Weed Park Zoo Garden picnic shelter area. We enjoyed one another's company, the beauty of the day and ate our lovely picnic lunch. Ron Yohe thanked all Rotarians for their friendship and service to our community through the ideals of Rotary.

Program: Tony Joseph introduced Kathy Chalupa, Marcy Stevens, and Paul Carroll who told the story of the Weed Park Zoo Garden.

Kathy Chalupa told us about the origination of Weed Park through the gifting of Dr. Weed and his family. She also reminded us of the Zoo that sat in the vicinity of this part of the park.  Marcy Stevens told us about Mary Rose Peterschmidt's idea of a Zoo Garden to commemorate the Weed Park Zoo.  Paul Carroll told us of the great collaboration of funds, hands and gardeners that brought the Zoo Garden from concept to implementation.

They told us of the next phase of the project which will include a compass and information kiosk providing commentary on the flow of the Mississippi River and the history of the Park and the Zoo!!

We were invited to take a guided tour of the garden. Many Rotarians walked over to the metal sculpture doe that we funded this year as a Rotary project.  We had a group photo taken and then we went on to the tour or returned to our day.

It was an enjoyable outing!!
