Rotary Guests today were: Bryant Petersen read for first time as a new member!!  Welcome Bryant!!

Rotary News: The Rotary Board will meet today.  Keith read a thank you from MCSA for the leftover meals gift. We are still looking for a few great volunteers to help with the 4th of July Parade.  See Janet Morrow for the details of time and location!!  Diana Broderson told us about the Collective Impact project being developed by United Way to prepare our community to collectively solve major community issues.  Ready for 21!!

Rotary Night at the Ballpark is Tuesday, August 5, 2014.  Volunteers are needed to help with RYLA Camp!!  Jim Sturms would love afternoon visitors!!

Happy News: Mike Ruby and Tony Joseph had a fabulous time at the Rotary Convention in Australia!! The new member orientation was successful thanks to the leadership of Erika Cox. Eleven students left for China today!!  Diana Gradert has closed on her house and is looking forward to being in one house!! John Kuhl had a good time at the New Member Meeting, as did Cath Hahn.  Cath is also happy that her daughter left for China for the next 6 weeks!! Kelly Garvin is proud of her daughter's 10U team who won the State Tournament. Ron Yohe wanted Rick Ray to know that we have appreciated knowing him and also the service given to the community by he and his family while here at the Salvation Army.  This is Rick's last meeting!!

Program: Judy Bennett provided an informative program on the Mercy Wound Care Center here in Muscatine.  26 million people in the United States have diabetes while 250 million persons in the world do.  Every 20 seconds someone loses a limb to diabetes.  The wound care center's goal is to improve the quality of life for those with severe wounds.

A case manager approach is used from the doctor to the center.  The center sees about 35-40 patients per day. The plan is to heal all wounds within 16 weeks.  The patient is placed in a hyperbaric chamber which is pressurized with 100% oxygen.  The patient breathes 100% oxygen for 90 minutes.  This oxygen bath helps wounds heal at a much more rapid pace.
