January 24, 2011 Paul Harris Award: Rotarian Troy Pugh was recognized with his Sustaining Paul Harris Award. His wife Jamie presented his pin and Rich Dwyer provided his recognition commentary.

New Member Proposal: Anna Mack was proposed as a potential new member. 

Mike Ruby, President Elect told the club about the Magazine Insert that the Muscatine Journal is putting together about our club and the support given by District 6000 for this public relations tool.  He told the members that businesses would be contacted regarding advertising in the supplement and indicated that it would be appreciated but is voluntary. The supplement will be coming out in mid-February.  

Club News: Barb Christensen invited member sign up and participation in the February 24, 2011 Guest Night Event at the Municipal Golf Course Club House.  The evening will begin at 6 P.M. and run until 8:00 P.M. with use of the new golf simulator, pizza and beer.  Cost is $10 for guests and free for members.  This is a great opportunity to introduce a friend to Rotary or enjoy an evening out with your spouse.  

Barb also encouraged member participation at the Art Center on Sunday for the John Bloom exhibit and Ragtime...Eagles and Ivories events. 

Board Member Taura Prosek, showed the club pictures of the proposed Rotary supported Bike Racks for downtown.  The rack is a bike with a Rotary emblem as one of the wheels.  She also shared good news for the Packer win over the Bears.

Sara Lande added to Barb's comments about Ragtime..Eagles and Ivories and encouraged members to visit the Button Factory on Sunday for the Brunch and great music.

Norm Smith proudly told of his newest great grandbaby boy:  Stone Ezekeial Walker.
Brian Chapman added his happy news for the Muskie Bowlers and told us that the Holiday Inn is now officially the Clarion Inn. 

Member News: Keep Kip Fisher and his family in your prayers as they experience the loss of Miki, wife and mother.

Program: Caren Luke, Mary Wildermuth and Mike Hartman demonstrated the Muscatine Rotary Website which is located at www.muscatinerotary.org/.  The left hand column of the opening page gives information on Rotary International and our local Rotary Committees.  The center section is a listing of the weekly bulletins and the right side has information on deducting meals and using that as a deduction.  The next page which requires a login was demonstrated and showed how to access your bill, your attendance and where the email section, as well as, the handy membership directory with email addresses and phone numbers is.  PHSM information can be accessed by going the International website on the first page left hand column..top corner.  A password is needed and can be received by contacting Rotary when on that site.
