No Rotary Meetings on December 23 and December 30!!

Guests: 3.0 Seniors including: Kenneth Chandler, Emily Smith, Cara Hahn, Ryan Broderson and Karey Hawkins. Lucas Jacobs, Rotary Exchange Student, guests of Dick Stanley; Dean of Engineering at Iowa State University, Sarah Jacobs and Iowa State Foundation Representative John Glover!!

Announcements: President Keith noted the excitement and pleasure of the students receiving dictionaries from the club!! He also thanked Todd Poci for his leadership with the project! Keith reminded us of the meeting next week and the topic's importance to our Muscatine students!!  Rich Dwyer noted that November is Rotary Foundation month and explained the importance of supporting the Foundation in specifically eradicating polio. Rich noted that it is only found in Afganistan, Pakistan and Nigeria!!  He also told us about a local Rotarian (anonymous) who will give $1000 to the local Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign if matched by our club and in addition another $1000 will be given to the Rotary Foundation!!  Join in the spirit of giving!!

Happy News: Captain Rick Ray is overjoyed at the anonymous $1000 donation and also wanted us to know that Rotarian Hoppi Hopkins is in the "Freezing for Food" truck supporting Two Weeks of Love....right now!!  Dick Stanley was happy that Iowa State defeated West Virginia, Harvey Allbee was glad the University of Iowa's football and wrestling teams were leading the pack!  Judi Holdorf was happy to hand out $1900 to 2 4th grade girls who won the Youth Engaged Grant.  Their project supports collecting coins for MCSA.  Scott Ingstad was happy that the Hawks won and that Dick and Greg's developed a culture at Stanley Consultants that supports Women in Leadership!! Brooke Mehaffey was happy that the Auburn Tigers won!!  and Gregs Thomopolous reminded us all that when our company is mentioned we are to place $1 on the table and he did!!

Rotary Program: Steve Jameson introduced the Rotary Exchange students who through powerpoint and personal joy told about their yearlong experiences.  Emily Smith had a great experience in Madrid, Spain while Cara Hahn had a great time in Brussels, Belgium.  Both girls learned about change whether it be with family differences, language or school experiences.  Sometimes it was definitely challenging but it appears they both overcame the challenges to have a life time experience!!
