Program: Shane Orr introduced Terry Geiger, District 6000 Foundation Chair, who provided an update on the Foundation and the three funds: Annual, Endowment and Polio.  The mission of the Foundation is to "Do Good in the World".  The Annual Fund works to support the Grant Process. In 2014-2015 $406,000 contributions were held for 3 years so that now we have half going to the World Fund and 1/2 to the district for Community Service and Global Grants.  The Global Grants are for long term, sustainable.larger projects that align with the areas of focus. They are matched by the World Fund and also provide Vocational Training and Scholarships.  The focus areas are: peace and conflict resolution, Disease Intervention, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Childrens Health, Basic Education and Economic Growth.  In Muscatine we contributed $149.78 per member.  Our goal this year is $13,000. Our club has contributed $800,000 in all time giving with 97 Paul Harris Fellows, 64 donors and 1 Rotary Direct support.

District Grants are for Community Service and are for Education and Humanitarian efforts.  These are local, smaller projects that are decided upon at the local level.  The application deadline is June 1, 2018.  The Polio Fund supports the annihilation of Polio. There are 13 current cases of Polio (Pakistan -5, Afghanistan - 8). Our club contributed $1700 last year.  The "Let's Drop to Zero" is the theme for the riddance of polio.  Grant management seminars are in February and March. West Liberty on February 17, February 24, West Des Moines and Newton on March 18.
