Program: Chris Hoffman and the Tek-Konnect Team presented a fun, interactive and informative program.  Team members include:  Noah Elgatian, Ethan Mattes, Jacob Morrow, Macy Morrow, Parent, Dave Mattes, Sam Emmert, Silas Hoffman, Emilio Bobay, Kylie Jackson, Sophia Emmert, Kaylin Beadle, Jackson Shield, Parent, Heidi Hoffman and Parent Kindle Emmert.  The inventor of Lego League, Dean Hammon invented the Sagway (stand up and ride machine) and many medical devices.  Feeding his own entrepreneurial needs led him to develop Lego Leagues.  The Leagues, are divided into 4 levels.  The League we saw is a 4th - 8th grade group of students.

Chris explained that there are 3 components to a project:  robot competition, project development with an annual theme and a core value component for FLL.  Tek-Konnect Team chose to teach senior citizens how to use their cell phone and ipad devices. They presented a skit to us that repeatedly demonstrated a "hold in your hand-manual"to learn the nuances of the devices.  The students then demonstrated their robot project which scores certain points at competition for completing various required maneuvers.

This team will be competing on January 17, 2015 in Ames at the State Competition. They have won at the local level by besting 26 other teams out of a total of 32.  Tek-Konnect is in the top 6 teams in the Quad City Area!! The students had a lot of fun sharing their project and the Rotarians enjoyed hearing about their creativity, spirit and success!!
