PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

May was a busy month, as you will see from the things we did.

I especially, want to mention that we supported a very successful Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign.  All funds raised from Smile Cookies support local charities. Thank you Tim's!  (John and Meagan.) And thank you to the volunteer cookie decorators and all of the cookie buyers!

In May we had several presentations from different  organizations, visited the Orangeville OSPCA, and made donations to very worthwhile organizations and causes.

This month, on June 5, we have our important EDC/Shelburne Rotary Golf Tournament fundraiser. A great day of fun, with golfing, an auction table, dinner and camaraderie.

At the end of this month, after two years as Shelburne Rotary President, I will move aside for new leadership from Karen Webster.

As of July 1, I will be Past-President, Director, International Services and our Rotary Youth Exchange Officer for our Youth Exchange Program.

I want to thank the Club for their support over the past two years as we worked together, driven by the motto, "Service Above Self". Whatever the event, fundraising or service project,  all members of the Club were there to contribute how and as they could. We are a small group,  with a strong desire to make life better in our community and the world.

We have a full schedule of events again this year.  It's an exciting time to be a Shelburne Rotarian.

Let no one tell you that you can't make a difference. Take a look at Shelburne Rotary.

Visit us at: ww.ShelburneRotaryClub.com and see what we do.

I would also like to thank the community for supporting Rotary when we reach out. From Town Council, to local businesses and individuals, we all need to work together.

Thank you all again.
Yours in Rotary,
President Bill Waite
tim hortons smile cookies

The Rotary Club of Shelburne wants to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to John and Meagan, and the entire staff at Tim Hortons Shelburne locations, for their generous support and donation of the Smile Cookie Campaign funds.

Funds raised will make a tremendous impact on causes that include the Shelburne Food Bank, the Christmas Hamper Program, the Backpack Program, and others.

And THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped Rotary decorate cookies and to all those who purchased cookies.

It takes all of us, working together, to truly make a difference in our community.

what we heard

Streams community Hub

Andrew and Julianne from Streams Community Hub gave us a a great presentation at our May 22 meeting. What an amazing contribution to our community that we would not want to lose. To become part of their fundraising campaign to get 1000 $10 monthly donors click here:  https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/donation-form/be-one-of--1000.

June is Streams Month with numerous activities that Streams Community Hub is involved in around Shelburne. For more information click here.

orangeville ospca

On May 1, Club members and guests visited the OSPCA in Orangeville for a tour and cheque presentation.

It was a very interesting tour highlighting the variety of services they provide to help support pet adoption.

The tour also included activities of building dog toys and cat carriers/homes.

Rotary also sponsored a "Pet of the Week".

Thank you Linda Terry and the staff and volunteers at OSPCA - Orangeville for hosting us.

bowling for dollars (not)

Scores don't matter when you are having a great evening of fellowship and camaraderie. Members of the Rotary Club of Shelburne joined members of the Rotary Club of Orangeville at Bowling on Broadway for fun, food, and some (questionable) bowling.
rotary youth exchange
We've written about our outbound student Mike who is heading off to France.

We can now announce that Shelburne Rotary will be hosting Natalie from Switzerland.

She will be attending the local high school, as will Mike in France.

The primary purpose of the Rotary Youth Exchange is to provide young people with opportunities to experience cultural exchange and develop into global citizens who promote understanding and peace. It aims to broaden their outlook by fostering international goodwill and enabling them to learn from different cultures, languages, and lifestyles.
