The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign returns April 27-May 3.

This year, the Rotary Club of Shelburne is proud to once again partner with Tim Hortons locations in Shelburne to raise funds for local charitable causes, including the Christmas Hamper Program, the Backpack Program, and other local causes.

100 per cent of the proceeds from Smile Cookie sales will be donated to over 600 charities and community groups in Canada, a campaign that Shelburne Rotary is proud to partner in.

In order to ensure that your purchase of Smile Cookies supports causes in Shelburne, please purchase your cookies at the Tim Horton’s off Highway 10 at the north end of Shelburne – the location on County Road 124 will be closed for renovations during Smile Cookie week.

On April 22, 1938, the Rotary Club of Shelburne was established to provide community service to our town and the world. Today, we are a group of 15 men and women building on what was started 88 years ago. We acknowledge what that group started and are honoured to continue their legacy of community service.

The Shelburne Rotary Club is a diverse group of like-minded people passionate about making a positive impact in our community and around the world. We make friends and have fun while living the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”.

On April 22 the Town of Shelburne recognized Shelburne Rotary Day with a flag raising and proclamation. We thank the Town of Shelburne for honouring this occasion. 

This month has been awesome so far. It all started with me switching host families.

Now I live on an actual farm. Never in my life did I think this was going to happen. I celebrated Easter with my new family, went on an Easter egg hunt and ate lots and lots of chocolate.

Besides that I learned how to make sourdough bread, I planted flowers, and I went to Medieval times in Toronto.

I'm very excited for the next month when I get to celebrate my birthday and learn new stuff on the farm.

It's been a busy month, as I have switched to my last host family, who is the sister of my first host dad.

So, I already know the family and they are very nice people. They have a son that’s 17 and a daughter that’s 15.

This past Friday my host dad took me fishing in Dunkirk. We're also planning to go again this Friday. We caught a couple of fish that weren’t too big, but apparently they're good to eat.

I also ran a 10km urban trail race with my third dad. It was a race through the city of Lille that passed through 25 different monuments.

Neil Orford, retired history teacher, fixture at Shelburne Remembrance Day ceremonies, and past speaker at Shelburne Rotary, is organizing a two week tour in November, 2026 of World War I and World War II sites in France and Belgium, including Remembrance Day at Juno Beach.

This tour is planned in conjunction with Orangeville Highlands Rotary for Rotarians and friends.
