Eric Anderson will provide an update on a project in Nepal that Shelburne Rotary contributed to whose goal is to uplift the livelihoods and health status of Indigenous women through self-sustaining entrepreneurship.
The Rotary Club of Shelburne and the Nutcracker Gala committee are completely overwhelmed with gratitude for the support of our event on November 16, 2024 at the Shelburne Golf and Country Club.
The event, which sold out well in advance, contributed to Rotary’s pledge to the Shelburne Food Bank Rescue Van fundraising campaign. We are proud to say that the Gala not only helped complete Rotary’s $20,000 commitment to the van but also produced an additional $11,500 donation (including the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle) to the Food Bank.
Thank you to all those who attended, donated a silent or live auction item, donated financially, sponsored the welcome cocktail, and gave of their time and talents to make this event extra special.
As always, the Shelburne Golf and Country Cub made us a superb meal with topnotch service and ensured the experience was perfect.
An extra special thank you to Bailey Mills, James O’Connor, Jamie McCutcheon, Leonard Guchardi, Linsey Beckett and Raeburn Ferguson who entertained us and made the evening run smoothly.
5th annual gift basket fundraiser

Shelburne Rotary recently assembled 50 gift baskets that we sold as a fundraiser for our charitable work.
Thank you to those local vendors who donate goods, to those who purchased or made items for the baskets and to Rotarians who put it all together.
And thank you to everyone who purchased a basket to support our charitable work.

senior's Market
In November Shelburne Rotary supported the Shelburne Food Bank Senior's Market for the last time this year.
The Shelburne Food Bank provides a Senior's Market at four locations on the last Thursday of the month from April to November.
Locations include one in Melancthon and three in Shelburne.
While the food available varies through the year, milk, eggs, cereal and a plentiful amount of fresh fruits and vegetables are always available.
Shelburne Rotary is privileged to help the Shelburne Food Bank with this initiative.
Once the Food Bank has their new cargo van, it will allow the market to run more efficiently and effectively for all the volunteers serving this important need in the community.
Shelburne Rotary attended the Shelburne Scouts meeting on November 26 to celebrate their 100th anniversary in Shelburne.
Shelburne Rotary is a longtime sponsor of Shelburne Scouts and we were honoured to accept the neckerchief that members receive, which includes the Rotary wheel.
By coincidence, Rotarian Steve (pictured at left) was a Shelburne Cub (in 1976) and a Cub leader.

greenery fundraiser
Another successful Christmas Greenery Fundraiser. In total 167 wreaths and garlands were sold by Rotarians. Thank you to all who bought and sold the greenery. All funds raised go to projects in our community and internationally.
salvation army kettle campaign
As we did last year, Shelburne Rotary was happy to support the Salvation Army - Christmas Kettle Campaign, on Saturday, November 30 in Shelburne.

tim horton's smile cookies
Shelburne Rotary was pleased to help decorate cookies for Tim Horton's Christmas Smile Cookie campaign in support of Streams Community Hub.
Tim's is a great community partner and we thank John and all the employees of our local Tim's for making this Smile Cookie campaign a success.
rotary supports: shelburne food bank cargo van
At the Nutcracker Gala the Club presented the Shelburne Food Bank with a $20,000 cheque for the Cargo Van Campaign.
What we heard: honouring our veterans
At our November 7 meeting, to remember our veterans in Canada and Dufferin County, Neil Orford spoke to the club.
Neil spoke about the effort that started when he was teaching history at Centre Dufferin and District High School (CDDHS) to capture the stories of Dufferin County veterans.
Neil credited the efforts of veteran and Shelburne resident Ken Wallace for starting this effort.
To end our year, instead of profiling a Rotarian, we are going to talk a little about our club.
Shelburne Rotary was established on April 22, 1938, some 86 years ago.
Today we are a smaller, but no less active, group of 15 members, following our motto "Service Above Self".
Our 15 members are made up of 9 women and 6 men. With a mix of service time from several months to over 30 years.
As you have read throughout the year and in this month's newsletter, we are active with our community service projects, events, fundraisers and donations to various organizations and causes.
Quite honestly, people and organizations have come to rely on Shelburne Rotary service projects and financial support.
And Shelburne Rotary relies on our sponsors, supporters and the community. Without the support of the community, we could not succeed.
But just think of how much more we could do with more members! More members who believe in helping others, by committing to "Service Above Self".
As the year closes, and we celebrate during the holidays and consider new year's resolutions, consider joining Rotary.
